On January 1, 1999, Dr. Paul Hale became the Associate Dean for External Programs in the College of Engineering and Science, and the Director of the Technology Transfer Center in Shreveport. Dr. Hale's academic training is in Industrial Engineering and he is a registered professional engineer in Louisiana. He has held faculty and administrative positions in industrial engineering and biomedical engineering at Louisiana Tech. As an industrial engineer, he has worked with the industry in the Shreveport-Bossier area and as the Director of the Biomedical Engineering Center, he has served as research liaison between the university and both the LSU Medical Center - Shreveport and the Biomedical Research Institute in Shreveport. Dr. Hale has experience working with universities in the region and has served on several state economic development committees. He has received a number of awards including being named the Outstanding Biomedical Engineering Educator in 1993 and is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He received an Engineering Faculty Professionalism Award in 1994 from the Louisiana Engineering Foundation. Dr. Hale has held leadership positions in various professional societies and is active in engineering program accreditation activities. One and one-half (1½) P.D.H’s will be given for attending this meeting. Directions to Technology Transfer Center: From I-10 (West of the airport), exit the Inner Loop Expressway, Hwy 3132; head South. From 3132, take the first exit, 70th Street; head West. At the first stop light, Buncombe Road, turn left. About one block, across from the First Assembly of God Church, turn left on Shreve Park Drive. Follow Shreve Park Drive a little over a mile to Louisiana Tech Technology Transfer Center. * Monjunis Italian Café and Grocery will cater the meal and there will be bread pudding for dessert. MathCounts: The MathCounts competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2001 at the Louisiana Tech Technology Center in Shreveport. Fifteen teams of sixth, seventh, and eight grade students will be competing. LOUISIANA EIT AND PE EXAMINATIONSExaminations in land surveying and in the chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering disciplines are offered in the spring and fall of each year. Examinations in all other engineering disciplines are offered only in the fall of each year. The professional examinations are offered on Fridays, and the fundamentals examinations are offered on Saturdays. Upcoming examination weekends include:
