"Welcome to the ASME Central Illinois Section web site! The section includes Peoria, Bloomington/Normal, Decatur, Springfield, Danville, and Champaign/Urbana. Meetings are held from September through May, usually the third week of the month on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. Topics are chosen based on general interest and technical value, but mostly everybody has a good time. Ideas for meeting topics are always welcome!

You can met a lot of nice people in ASME, learn much about the field of Mechanical Engineering (is there any field which covers a broader spectrum?) and you can build a network of many acquaintances. Those who attend the section meetings seem to agree that it is a good social event, and it will expand your horizons.
