WEBSITE UPDATE, February 14, 2012

ASME Canaveral Section Team Members,

I am pleased to contact you as the new Chairman of the ASME Canaveral Section. My name is J. Cliff Denson and I have been a resident of Merritt Island since 2007. I am a graduate of Iowa State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and hold a M.S. in Technical Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I work for the Brunswick Recreational Boat Group as their Director of Engineering.

The Canaveral Section's executive team is currently comprised of two additional individuals:

Frank Rodericks - Canaveral Section Treasurer, ASME Subcommittee 5 (Dimensioning & Tolerancing) member; Resident of Rockledge since 2000, Graduate of Embry-Riddle aeronautical University with B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering, Currently employed at United Space Alliance.

John Van Guilder - Canaveral Section Vice-Chair, Resident of Melbourne, graduate of Florida Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Currently employed at Harris Corporation in their mechanical packaging department working as an Integration and Test Engineer on a space satellite program.

Our section has a rich history with the research and industry found in our jurisdiction but between retirements and relocations, participation has dwindled. Never the less, the Canaveral section is still 287 members strong with active members whose tenure ranges from 1 to 76 years. ASME is a Society that we are all part of for many reasons and over the next few months, I would like to learn what benefits you are most interested in so that we can work to revitalize this section for you.

As a kickoff to this revitalization effort, please join me and your executive leadership team on Sunday, 2/26/2012 at Kelly Park East (2550 N Banana River Drive, Merritt Island) for a lunch meeting/social event. We will be joined by John Mulvihill, SE ASME District Leader to discuss the history and future of our section and socialize with members of our group. Frank Rogers will be manning the Barbeque for the section, there is a convenient playground for children, and we're sure to have a good time getting to know one another. Members and their immediate families eat free (friends are welcome for a $5 donation to help offset the cost of the gathering).

Please RSVP by sending an email to Frodericks@asme.org with the number of attendees in your party as soon as possible (deadline, Tuesday, 2/21/12).

Lunch will be served at Noon. John Mulvihill will speak at 12:30 and Frank, John, and I will spend the early afternoon learning about your interests in ASME.

Main course and sides will be provided. Please bring your own beverages.

Regards,

J. Cliff Denson
Canaveral Section Chairman
