November 17, 2009: "Jefferson Lab Tour":

Presented by:
ASME and  Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility

Please join the Eastern VA ASME Section on November 17, 2009 at 5:30 pm for an evening tour of Jefferson Lab, a U.S. Department of Energy research facility, located in the heart of Hampton Roads.  This is open to all ASME members free of charge. One guest may accompany each ASME member.  However, attendance is limited so register early.

After reception and refreshments, the group will take a guided tour of Jefferson Lab, a nuclear physics research facility used by 1,200 U.S. and international scientists.
You will visit one of Jefferson Lab’s three internationally renowned experimental halls, its SRF Test Facility, and its world-record-holding Free-Electron Laser. Both machines run under technologies that Jefferson Lab is a world leader in: superconducting radiofrequency (SRF) and cryogenics.

The ASME meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Jefferson Lab’s CEBAF Center (Bldg 12), located at 12000 Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, Va. Enter at Onnes Drive; turn left onto SURA Road. Follow road to the right and park in lot on the left.
