HISTORY OF MT. DIABLO SECTION

The Mt. Diablo Section was first organized as a Subsection in 1963.  The Subsection served ASME members living in portions of the California Counties of Alameda and Contra Costa County bounded on the west by a line passing through the westerly limits of Mission San Jose and Alamo, on the north by the Mt. Diablo Base Line, on the east by the respective county lines, and on the south by the Alameda county line.  Postal addresses within the Subsection included Alamo, Byron, Danville, Diablo, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Sunol.  Due to the growth of the Subsection, full Section status was attained in 1972. The Section served those members in the eastern portion of the California Counties of Alameda and Contra Costa, bounded within those two counties the western boundaries of the communities of Sunol, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Lafayette, Pleasant Hill and Martinez, plus San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties.

The Mt. Diablo Subsection started with 66 members in 1963 and grew to 120 in 1972. The current membership stands at approximately 700.
