Message from the Chair
I appreciate Jim Kelly’s efforts in setting up this event. Back on November 1st we had a tour of another Auburn facility, the Nucor Steel plant, and that was well attended. We also had good attendance at the ASME-sponsored lectures at the CNY Engineering Expo 2007 on November 12th. Both of those events were arranged in large part by Fred Wenthen, our Section web master. In case you are wondering why you haven’t been getting newsletters from your local ASME section the problem isn’t on your end, it’s on this end. We have been struggling to get the programs arranged. In the next program year we anticipate a tour of the new G.A. Braun facility up off Taft Road, probably in the Fall. We hope to have Dr. Mason Somerville give a talk on a plant he has been working on to press soy beans and other seeds to make oils to be used in the making of bio fuels. We might have a tour of the Syracuse China facility as well. As always you can find information on the Syracuse Section website at http://sections.asme.org/SyracuseNY/. All members are welcome to attend the Executive Committee meetings. Please feel free to e-mail or phone the committee members with any ideas or suggestions. If you’re interested in joining the Executive Committee we are always looking for new members. Please contact Bruce Marcham at 470-6797 or by email at bmarcham@esf.edu.
