Joint Akron ASME/Akron ASM Meeting

Mr. Rick Reiter
Sales Manager, North America
SIFCO Applied Surface Concepts

Rick Reiter will be presenting an overview of the unique capabilities of selective brush plating and anodizing, a process whereby the electroplating process is brought to the part, versus dipping the part in a tank. It is ideal for selective areas of metallic parts or components where functional improvements are needed. These functional improvements include increased hardness, improved wear characteristics, better corrosion resistance, improved conductivity, preparation for brazing, imparting anti-galling or slip properties, and carburizing stop-off. The process is also used extensively for repair or refurbishment of worn or mis-machined components. Information on the materials which are plated, including some of their properties and structures, will be presented as well. In particular, a new process for plating on titanium alloys will be highlighted in the presentation. Specific engineering design and repair planning considerations will also be discussed.

About the Speaker

Mr. Rick Reiter, currently Sales Manager, North America for SIFCO Applied Surface Concepts, a division of SIFCO Industries. Rick has been involved in various sales, marketing, and engineering roles with SIFCO ASC for over 10 years.
