Subject: ASME B31.4-2006 Pipeline Transportation Systems for Liquid Hydrocarbons and Other Liquids

Presenter: Thomas J. O'Grady, II, P.E., Chair B31.4

Time:  11:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2007

Place: Peggy's Restaurant, 1675 East 5th. Ave.

We will be presenting an overview of the changes in the just-released 2006 edition of B31.4, with an emphasis on the parts that are likely to affect the design, construction, maintenance and repair of pipelines in Alaska.

Speaker:  Tom O'Grady has over 30 years experience in all phases of mechanical design and project engineering of pipelines, drill sites and oil and gas processing facilities in the Arctic. He provides engineering direction for VECO Alaska’s full range of technical services, with particular emphasis in the areas of pressure piping and pipelines, valves, pressure vessels and heat exchangers, stress analysis, material selection, coatings and insulation, and fabrication methods.

He is a member of the ASME B31 Pressure Piping Standards Committee and the B31 Executive Committee, the Chair of the ASME B31.4 Liquids Pipelines Subcommittee, a member of the ASME B31 Mechanical Design Technical Committee, a member of the B31.12 Hydrogen Piping and Pipelines Committee, and a member of the ASME A13 Scheme for Identification of Piping Systems Committee.  He is also the Convener of the ISO TC67 SC02 WG13 Working Group for ISO 13623 Pipeline Transportation Systems, the ISO Standard for the design and maintenance of gas and hydrocarbon liquid pipelines.

Feel free to forward this to anyone who might be interested.  Our meeting are open to all.  You must order from the menu, with a $5 minimum for each person, and ASME collects $2 to cover their costs.

Also, if you have a hot topic, either something you would like to present or something that you would like to see presented, drop me a note.

Speakers needed:  We need speakers and topics for our monthly meetings.  If you have a Project or Product or Process that you want to introduce to the engineering community, give Ed Ruebling a call.
