Mission To aggressively develop programs to enhance the stature of mechanical
engineers and students by addressing the professional, economic and
social needs, facilitate participation in Society activities and promote
membership in ASME.
REGION IX OBJECTIVES
Strategically developed objectives will improve service to our members;
provide leadership in technology transfer and supporting educational
activities; forge strong links with members, students and young engineers;
enhance relations with industry and the university; and focus on the
importance of "ASME for a Lifetime."
These Region IX objectives are particularly applicable to the membership
in this period of corporate restructure and international involvement.
The following objectives are applicable to Region IX and its involvement
with ASME International; within Region IX and the Operating Board; Region
IX Sections, Technical Chapters, Sub-sections/groups and Student Sections.
These objectives are intended to be consistent with information developed
at the Congress of Councils meeting in Minneapolis (October 1995) where
"The ASME Journey" was defined and endorsed by the officers
of ASME. Specific programs and activities associated with these objectives
can include items from existing ASME inventory, modified versions incorporating
aims expressed in the "Journey," or new programs to meet the
challenges presented in the Journey. Journey Topic Headers associated
with "The Journey" are appropriately identified to each of
the Region IX objectives. This identity follows the description of Region
IX Objectives:
|
1.
|
To
provide a "Seamless" relationship with ASME International
at all levels. |
|
2.
|
To
significantly increase member participation in section, technical
chapter, subsection and group operations while encouraging student
involvement in Region IX activities. |
|
3.
|
To
establish Region IX financial stability and self-sufficiency in
order to provide better operational programs and allow for new initiatives
at all levels. |
|
4.
|
To
implement training programs for student, section, technical chapter
and regional volunteers. |
|
5.
|
To
provide programs and services that increase the technical competency
of members including services for their economic well-being. |
|
6.
|
To
maximize volunteer, member, and student recognition through honors
and awards. |
|
7.
|
To
initiate and implement programs responsive to the needs of young
engineers. |
|
8.
|
To
become the leading ASME region in terms of the number of student
and corporate members. |
|
9.
|
To
develop a seamless relationship between students and corporate members. |
