CHANNEL ISLANDS SECTION

JUNE 2000 NEWSLETTER

FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Summer has already arrived. To better plan for next year we have organized a survey (see below) and would appreciate your response. Also, please consider attending our next committee meeting on June 20. As I have stated before, it is very important to have a balanced life. Work, family, health, and community are important to most of us. Being an active member in ASME does not take up too much time and effort. Plus, it provides the benefits of networking, learning, and staying current with your profession.

Thank you. Have a wonderful and enjoyable summer.

TOUR OF JW MOLDING INC.

On Wednesday May 17 about 10 members and guests of the Channel Islands ASME section toured JW Molding in Newbury Park.

The tour began with an introduction to some of JW Molding’s typical products, which include parts used in the biomedical, disk drive, and aerospace industries.

The group then proceeded to the model shop, where molds are created with CNC milling machines and electrical-discharge machining (EDM). In the production area the group witnessed the injection-molding machines in action. The tour concluded in the quality assurance department.

Thanks to JW Molding for your generosity in hosting the ASME Channel Islands Section!
