Online Networking

 

What is online networking?  Why should I use it?  What are some of the issues involved with using online networks and social media?

 

In this presentation, we’ll cover:

Reasons for online networking, including job search, employee search,

  problem solving, sales/marketing, partnering, and building/renewing

  friendships.

How to build your professional and personal network

Overview of major social networking sites and features - LinkedIn,

  Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Ning, and others

Keeping updated, such as through RSS feeds and automated services

  like Google Alerts

Issues with online networking like privacy, what information to share,

  networking from work, and which networks to   join

 

About the presenter:

Joe Jurczyk has more than 15 years of experience performing instructional design, designing and developing web sites and creating online networks.  He is currently an instructional designer for Radcom, a Hudson-based consulting company specializing in training development, documentation, technical communication and human capital services. He is also the founder of the ULTRA e-mail list, an online discussion group with more than 2,000 members that was started in 1994 to discuss the sport of ultramarathoning.

Tobagganing!

 

The CSU student section of ASME has invited us to join them tobogganing at the chutes this Thursday. Here are the details:

 

Join us for our first event of 2010: Tobogganing at the Cleveland Metroparks ice chutes!

 

If you look this location up on Google maps it will give you an address that is very wrong.  Valley Parkway passes UNDER I-71, the chutes are directly west of this underpass. You can access Valley Parkway from Rt. 42 or Rt. 82. See the map in the newsletter.

Location: Valley Parkway between Routes 42 and 82 in Strongsville (a short distance from both I-71 and the Ohio            Turnpike)
