ASME Eastern North Carolina Section


Executive Committee 2008 - 2009

Robert Hall, - Robert is the 2008-2009 Section Chair and Newsletter Editor for the Eastern NC ASME Section. Robert graduated from NCSU with a BS and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He has been working in the medical device industry for over 10 years.  His main interest is in long distance running and he is working on finishing his 9th marathon this fall.  He has had several different rolls in the ASME chapter and has enjoyed learning more about mechanical engineering in a social environment.

Edwin Duncan - Edwin is Vice-Chairperson for the 2008-2009 year. Edwin is also a past Egg Drop Chair.  Edwin graduated from the University of North Carolina with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1974. After the great Recession in the late 70s he went to North Carolina State University and graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1982.  He likes to say that he went to Carolina to get a degree and to State to get a job.  At IBM in RTP he was a Manufacturing Engineer and became involved in MCAD which led to a career in ECAD. Edwin is currently a Senior PCB Designer at Extron Electronics.  To him, the local ASME chapter is a chance to see firsthand what is happening in Mechanical Engineering in the area and meet Engineers that are leaders in their areas of expertise.

Lee Barger is secretary for 2008-2009.

Miguel Roman - Miguel is 2008-2009 Treasurer & Webmaster for the Eastern NC ASME Section.  Miguel graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering & works for John Deere in a product support role for John Deeren in Cary.

Tom Jones is a Director for 2008-2009.

Mike Hiller - Mike is a Director for 2008-2009 & was the Section Chair from 2004 - 2007. BSME '85  MSME '87. Multiphysics ANSYS FEA expert who has provided business & technology advantages since 1988. Have used and implemented CAD & FEA in the manufacturing sector, ANSYS/ProE software sales channel in Pittsburgh & the Carolinas, and as a consultant.

Chris Yahnker, PE, - Chris was the 2007-2008 Section Chair.  Chris holds a BSME from North Carolina State University and  Masters of Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University where he specialized in Thermo-Fluids. Chris spent 7 years living and working for Black & Decker (DeWALT) in Maryland and was active in the Baltimore ASME section before returning to North Carolina in 2004. Chris is currently a Principle Engineer with Insight Product Development in Raleigh. He is also a licensed PE in Maryland and North Carolina and an Eagle Scout.

Ewan Pritchard - Ewan was the Section Chair from 2001 - 2004.
