"Development Process for Tactical Vehicles"
This event features a vehicle courtesy of the Illinois Army National Guard's Troop C, 106th Cavalry in Aurora.
Presentation by COL Brant V. Dayley, Director of Materiel, Army G8.
Colonel Dayley will discuss the blurring line between combat vehicles and tactical vehicles. He will explain the Army's lineup of tactical vehicles: MRAP's, MTV's (Medium Tactical Vehicles) and the JLTV that is still in development. He will describe the Army's Development Process for Tactical Vehicles
Col. Brant Dayley is a graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology, and was commissioned as a Regular Army second lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery.
Brant has held a variety of operational and staff assignments during twenty four years of service. His operational assignments included tours in Infantry Divisions and in short and long-range Air and Missile Defense units. His Interagency experience stems from service conducting scientific and intelligence analysis for the Defense Intelligence Agency, and Joint experience from developing space and missile defense policy on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Brant commanded the 1st Battalion (PATRIOT), 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, XVIII Airborne Corps, and later served as the Director, Chief of Air Defense Artillery. Following graduation from the National War College, Brant served as the Fires Division Chief, Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA) G-8, and for the past two years has served as the Army's 10th Director of Materiel, also on the Army G-8 staff
Col. Dayley's military education includes the Air Command and General Staff College (ACSC), and the National War College (NWC). He has also earned Master of Science degrees in Operations Research/Systems Analysis, Military Operational Arts and Science, and National Security Strategy.
COL Dayley's presentation will answer questions such as: What are tactical vehicles and how does their role differ from that of combat vehicles? What pitfalls can a supplier fall into? What development costs does the DOD pay for and what does the supplier have to risk? What tests and other hurdles does the product have to pass
