POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Engineer, Level III

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: This position involves the development, design, and fabrication of underwater systems, tools, and methods for performing ship and offshore structure inspection, repair, and recovery by divers and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Work performed supports U.S. Navy and commercial customers’ operational requirements. This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and receives a modest level of supervision. The position is located in Aiea, HI or other Phoenix facilities when assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design tools, cofferdams, ROV and manned diving system structural and mechanical systems, and weight handling equipment

· Perform detailed design and analyses of piping and structural subsystems

· Perform structural flexibility and fatigue analysis in accordance with applicable commercial codes.

· Work in a team environment.

· Supervise work of CAD Designer / Draftsman

· Support design and analyses through life cycle of the product including conception, definition, build, and operation phases.

· Conduct quality control of material and processes/procedures

· Management of small projects with some fiscal responsibility.

· Some travel required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· BS degree in mechanical, structural, marine or ocean engineering

· MS degree in mechanical, structural, marine or ocean engineering desired

· Minimum 7 years applicable working experience

· Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D solid modeling program

· Familiar with CosmosWorks or similar FEA software

· Knowledgeable in quality assurance/control

· Demonstrated technical writing experience

· Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance desired

· Engineering experience in marine industry desired

· Commercial diving or ROV experience desired

· Mechanical or machine shop experience desired

· Must be willing and physically able to travel to all Phoenix facilities and to field operations, inland and offshore, including climbing ladders, personnel transfer at-sea, and carrying/lifting 40 lbs.
