Hello Gentlemen:
Thank you for attending the kick-off session for the ASME Hawaii section's P.E. refresher course this past Saturday. It was nice meeting all of you and spending the time to work problems during our 1st session. As discussed, we will be meeting everyweek end on Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm at the Holmes Hall, Rm. 242. We will spend the time during the session to go over problems and focus on questions that you have. Again, thank you for participating in the spring P.E. refresher course for the April 2007 exam. For more information about ASME International or ASME Hawaii, please visit www.sections.asme.org/hawaii. I look forward to working with you to pass the P.E. exam the 1st time.

Ray, Dr. Kinoshita, Dr. Masutani,
Hate to use an informal email to pay my respects, but not sure I will be down to UH any time in the near future to do this in person...
I wanted to personally thank you for the time and personal consideration you put into the review course over the 13-week period from July - October 2008. I was certainly blessed to be pointed towards this course and opportunity this past summer. Ray, I remain in awe you showed every week, paid for parking, brought dinner/sodas and sat with us for a period of time EVERY WEEK. Ray, you are my personal HERO. In general, I'm indebted to the three of you for life!
The guidance and instruction allowed me to finally stroke the PE exam.
The instruction was ideal (I should know, having unfortunately been involved in three previous review courses) as it was not only informative to the subject matter and types of problems on the test, but also helped me stay on course with a regimented and weekly study routine. Proof of the quality of the refresher course was that it's looking like all four of your students passed the Oct 08 exam!
Think you know my saga, but this was my last chance to pass the exam prior to a Navy selection board in spring 09 where, if I did not have the PE in my record, I would not be selected and promoted to CDR... So this last exam cycle carried some serious extra weight for me! Can't thank you gentlemen enough...
I intend to have a large celebration/party at my home in the month of February. When Jen and I get the date set, look for a personal invite... I certainly hope you can stop by and be our guests of honor!
Very respectfully,
Aaron

"Charly, Steve and Ray, I just want to thank you again for your very generous service to ASME in organizing and co-teaching a refresher course for the PE exam. I was originally skeptical about whether the course would be helpful, and really only attended to get ideas and discipline to study on my own. While it was extremely challenging to provide a worthwhile overview of the various topics in three hour sessions, I found that the presentations were dynamic and very useful. While the quality of the exam itself was rather disappointing, and it is difficult to predict with 100% certainty whether I will
pass, I found the material and thought processes that you reviewed to be extremely valuable. It was also a great opportunity to meet and study with other engineers in Hawaii at the same stages of their careers. I can't stress enough how much I appreciate your services to the community and to me personally.
I hope I'll see you in a few weeks at the next ASME meeting. Mahalo!"
