ASME Announcements

ASME received their proxy in early September
All members of ASME received their proxy in early September, with that issue of Mechanical Engineering Magazine. The biographical sketches of the 2005 nominees for Society-wide elective offices are available on the
ASME web site at www.asme.org/nomcomm/proxyballot/ or can be obtained in hard copy form by contacting ASME Information Central at 1-800-843-2763 or 1-973-882-1167. The Nominating Committee would like to see an increase in the number of proxies returned. Society policy requires that the Nominating Committee bring one nominee to the voters for each of the positions of President, at large members of the Board of Governors and each Vice President. A large vote indicates
support for the nominee and their ability to provide the leadership demanded by the constituency. A low vote, on the other hand, denies that officer the enthusiastic support he/she needs and deserves, and indicates an indifference of the membership.

The Sections are our primary link to the members. Please urge your members to return their proxies. A notice in your newsletter, on your meeting announcements or a discussion at your meetings would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support.
