Meeting Announcement - SME Chapter 141 - November 4: Internet Resources for Manufacturing Engineers
Double D Coating - Thursday, 21st October 2004
The Mississippi Section of the ASME will have its October meeting this Thursday the 21st. The meeting will be a plant tour of the Double S Coating plant located at 1096 Mendell Davis Drive, Byrum, MS. Double S Coating manufactures galvalume (trade name) coated steel for building and construction industry. From a technical perspective, engineers can observe the cleaning, annealing, coating and final processing for re-shipment of steel coils.
Date: Thursday, October 21st 2004
Agenda: 6:00 to 7:00 PM - Dinner, general meeting and welcome at the El Sombrero Restaurant off of Exit 85 on I-55 (Byrum Exit). Each person will order off the menu. The telephone # for the restaurant is (601) 346-9299. The dinner meeting is optional. You can attend just the plant tour.
7:00 to 9:00 PM - Plant tour of Double D Coating. The plant tour will be hosted by Messrs Mike Meadows and Brad Kennedy of Double D Coating.
Direction to the El Sombrero Restaurant in Byrum:
From Jackson, take I-55 south to Exit 85 (Byrum Exit). Take a left at the end of the exit ramp and go to frontage road in front of the Blue Sky gas station (look for the big Blue Sky sign). Turn right just before the BP gas station and the restaurant is located in the shopping plaza.
Direction to the Double D Coating Plant:
The plant is located at 1096 Mendell Davis Drive, Byrum, MS, next to DIFoodservice Companies/Groen (for those of you who visited the Groen plant last year. It is off of the left frontage road going south on I-55n and about 1.5 mile south of the restaurant. If you need additional direction to the plant, please contact Dipak Negandhi at 601-371-6033.
NOTE: Please RSVP by noon 21st October to me if you are planning to attend. Please come out and visit this fine facility and bring your spouse and colleagues. Door prizes will be given away.
