Turn left onto Campus Drive.
Turn left onto Hilton Court. Parking lot for Kraft is there.
If coming east on NJ 10, take Dryden Way ramp and follow as above.
Beal Moore in Recovery:
Beal Moore is recovering from a mild heart attack.
We all wish him well.
Flyers for up-coming Section Events:
Karen brought in two printed flyers which she prepared for the Engineering Week Dinner and
The Meadowlands program. She included a mail in questionnaire asking members to
express topic preferences for a patent law program. Richard Straussman, a patent attorney
from the Morgan & Finnegan firm, offers to provide a presentation.
Attendees at this meeting collated stapled, put address labels on, and applied postage to the
two- sheet flyer for mailing.
This flyer will be mailed to members who do not have E-mail addresses listed with ASME.
E-mails will be sent to listees, rather than a mailing, to save money on postage.
Tour of Kodalux in Fair Lawn, NJ:
Arnold Pristernik contacted George Audisio (audisio@qualexphoto.com). Audisio offered
to provide a tour in March at 8:00pm on a day between Monday and Thursday. Arnold
will attempt to arrange a tour at a later date to give us more lead time for publicizing the
event to our members. The tour would include photographic film printing, paper processing,
paper cutting, and packaging.
Engineering Week Dinner:
Engineering Week Dinner and Keynote Speaker confirmed February 12, 2004
Gregory T. Linteris PhD. will be our keynote speaker. His lecture “Fire in Space” is based on his
experience in space missions.
He is an employee of The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). His travel expenses
will be tallied following government travel rules. These expenses will be reimbursed by NIST, who will
send a bill to ASME. Since Dr. Linteris is an ASME sponsored distinguished lecturer, ASME will reimburse NIST.
We need to rent the following items for the
dinner:
- A VHS video player which plugs into a video projector (a TV screen is not acceptable)
- A 35 mm carousel slide projector and screen (same one used for the video projector).
It is also helpful to have a wireless slide advancer, but a long cord would suffice.
- A wireless lapel microphone.
- A laser pointer.
If one of our members can provide equipment items, contact Karen Ohland at
ohlandk@asme.org. Lisa Laplante has contacted so cieties.
Karen will contact engineering schools.
ASME Program on the Meadowlands -
Feb. 21
A program on the Meadowlands is set for February 21 (Sat.) between 10:00am to 11:30 am.
Hugh Carola, program director of the Hackensack Riverkeeper will make a presentation on how
a conspicuously inappropriate development plan for the Meadowlands was replaced by an
appropriate plan. He is a very dynamic and entertaining speaker.
The saga he unfolds is the story like that of Don Quixote beating the windmill.
A speaker from the Meadowlands Commission (possibly an engineer) will also address attendees.
If possible, the talks will be followed, by a tour of the Meadowlands laboratory.
The event will take place at the Environmental Education Center where there are interactive exhibits.
Attendees will be welcome to interact as desired. Details will be posted on our web site.
