Karen Ohland will E-mail information to anyone who is interested in attending this RAC, which is Located in a scenic area 12 miles from Port Jervis, NY. E-mail her at ohlank@asme.org. It would be nice to arrange a car pool. Visit the RAC website for complete details at http://www.asme.org/regions/nero/R2_RAC_2004.htm.

Regional Student Conference April 24th:

This will be a one-day event, which will involve a student design competition. The challenge is to pick up the most simulated mines with a robotic mine-sweeper.  Iggy D’Agati, Karen Ohland, Lisa Laplante, and Richard Dolinsky will attend as judges Dick Touma made the welcoming introductory speech.

Aviation Museum (Teterboro) program Event:

Scheduled for May 22 Beal Moore and Sid Goodman made arrangements for this event. See the announcement at the end of these Meeting Minutes. At this Section Meeting, we discussed publicity and agreed that we would ask Lisa Laplante to send out an E-mail to all members for whom she has an E-mail address. We will send a flyer to those members who do not have E mail.

Beal Moore had supplied us with a quote from a printer who can print flyers from copy ready art, (which we have) address them, fold and seal them, apply postage and mail them. Whether beql he would be able to coordinate this because of his health remains to be determined.

Ramesh suggested that all our attendees visit Kinkos, which is about a mile away from where we held the meeting to ask if they can do what Beal’s source can do. We left a message for their manager, Jack Abbate tel: 973-984-8028 (1960 Route 10, Morris Plains, NJ 07950-2601) to give us a quote. We will compare his quote with the quote that Beal supplied us with about a year ago. (Sid called Jack on 4-26-04). Jack had not seen the message left for him yet, but Jack said he could do it all, so Sid asked for a quote to be faxed, with time being of the essence. If he doesn’t respond in a timely fashion, Sid will check with Beal and Beal’s suggested source.

Sid will ask Lisa Laplante for a disk with the addresses of members who do not have E-mail.

Federal Government Fellowship Program:

ASME has established a program whereby members may become advisers to Congress and the White House. Contact ASME headquarters for information.

Patent and Invention Program:

We will schedule this program for the fall. Although the Stevens Institute is interested in having a program at Stevens it is not possible to do it this spring. We would like to have the program in the late afternoon for students, serve supper, and then have an evening session. Serving a supper at Stevens is no problem.

Tour of Kodalux in Fair Lawn, NJ:

Arnold Pristernik contacted George Audisio (audisio@qualexphoto.com). Arnold will attempt to arrange a tour for the fall, possibly in September. Kodalux needs a 6-week advance notice. The tour would include photographic film printing, paper processing, paper cutting, and packaging.

ASME Reorganization-Change and Continuity Initiative:

Bud Foster said he would prepare a draft statement that addresses the concerns of our Section Officers. We have not yet received it. Bud’s E-mail address does not accept messages. Has he changed it?

ASME celebration of 125th Anniversary – February, 2005:

Volunteer coordinators for E-week 2005 and the anniversary are sought from each Section. Please contact Karen at ohlandk@asme.org if you are interested in being either a volunteer coordinator or a volunteer.

James Litvany of the Stevens North Jersey Alumni is interested in having an anniversary event at the Stevens Institute. He would like more information. His e-mail address is litvany@dnvps.com

Solar Splash – an ASME Event – June 16-20

ASME is looking for volunteers. If interested, contact Roberta Gorman.

Richard Dolinsky said he confirmed the 24th and he will schedule a rain date. Whether the rain date will be July 31st remains to be determined. Sid asked Richard to supply copy so Sid can prepare a flyer/announcement. Swartzwood Park offers swimming, boating, and fishing. It has a concession stand.

June 17th - The dinner will be held at the Hanover Inn. Karen confirmed the date
with the Inn.
