A Discussion
on the Reorganization of ASME was held.
We discussed the changes which are in a state of flux. Thus far, Regions
will be combined into 6 USA Districts and 4 International Districts.
Some ASME staff positions have been terminated.
It was agreed
that we must plan for the impact of organizational changes, including…
-
The reduction
and eventual elimination of stipends to Sections and Sub-Sections.
-
We must
strongly insist that Districts will be of service to members, In the
communities where they live, and not focus on distant events that will
be not be easily accessible or not affordable.
-
Programs must
provide information of direct value to members in face to face meetings.
-
Means for
members to reach other members with similar interests in their field
should be facilitated. Iggy said he would research this issue.
The proposed
organizational changes being developed by the ASME Board of Governors
are on the website
www.asme.org\change.
