Address of Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU)
1000 River Road
Muscarelle building

Directions:
FDU is along side of route 4, on the east side of the Hackensack River.
To get to the FDU parking lot you must turn off River Road (if you are on River Road)
Make a turn at the West bound side of route 4 to get in the parking lot. Bear to the right and loop around under route 4 to get to the other side of the highway.

If you are on route 4, going east, take the River Road exit. A sharp right goes to the parking lot. Go to the end of the parking lot, heading away from route 4 bearing to the right. At the far end of the lot (south), go up the stairway that has 3 landings.

The Muscarelle building is at the top of the stairs. It is a brown building.
The building has its name on the wall, which you can see from the top of the stairs.

If you are on route 4, going west, exit at River Road.

A Brainstorming Session for Program planning will be held on either December 6th or 8th. Richard Dolinsky will pick a place. He will notify us when arrangements have been finalized.

This will be a planning session including strategy for dealing with the reorganization of ASME. A preliminary list of program options (copy attached) stimulated some members to offer active involvement in some of the listings.

Richard looked into arranging future Section meetings at the ASME field office, because it is at the centroid of where our membership lives. He found the office is not a practical place. He is looking into holding meetings at the FDU Madison, NJ campus.

Karen reported that The Section and our Sub-Sections received the annual stipend from headquarters. The stipend was $3,772.50 for the Section and $450 for each of our three Sub-Sections. The total amount was $5,122.51. This is 60% of last year’s total stipend.

It was agreed that a snail-mail letter should be issued by Richard Dolinsky to all members. This letter will invite participation in the mentioned Brainstorming Session. The letter will notify North Jersey members that we must take changes in the ASME structure into account. Also, we have a future of reduced, or completely eliminated stipends. Richard asked (attendees of this Section meeting) to submit draft text for the letter within a week. Based on submissions, Richard will prepare his letter. He will have it mailed as soon as possible.

Rebuilding Together:

Lisa’s request for volunteers for Rebuilding Together in Mahwah attracted some interest by FDU students.

Wine Tasting/wine making Program:

Lisa said that about 20 people are interested in attending such a program. The event will take place at Wine Making Plus NJ. She will finalize planning in about a week.

Sterling Mine/Fall Foliage:

This event may be held this Sunday. Notice will be sent by email. Although it is short notice, this event will coincide with the peak in fall foliage.

FIRST Robotic Competition:

Richard is interested in recruiting mentors for high school and college teams. It was suggested that Richard speak to Marian Heller for ideas on how to involve engineers and community hosts.

In addition to supporting this robotic student competition, he would like to recruit speakers to give talks on engineering to high school and college students.
