Sid Goodman and
Lisa Laplante had a brief review session at FDU,
Teaneck.
This was in lieu of a full fledged Section meeting, due to
logistical problems of the executive committee.
Next Section meeting:
tentatively set for May 11 or May 18 at Kraft, East Hanover.
Brian Boden reserved Kraft for either of these
alternate dates. It is up to Richard Dolinsky to
advise which date it shall be.
The executive committee will be notified when the date and
place is confirmed.
Pharmaceutical
Project Engineering Program April 24:
Lisa Laplante sent out announcement emails to email
listed members.

The program is Mechanical Engineering Projects in
Pharmaceutical Construction GMP basics you need to know:
…Good manufacturing practices per 21CFR211
…Facility design concepts acceptable to the USFDA

Honors and Awards
Dinner:
The executive committee felt that May would be a good month
for it. Arnold Pristernik made arrangements for this
event in the past, but he has not been well. As a result,
the month of May will be honor-less. If members will step
in for Arnold, we will be able to plan an honor-full
event at a later date.
Arnold's e-mail address has been changed. It is now
a.pristernik@verizon.net.
I hope he is feeling better. Even if he is perfectly healed
and is willing to resume his past service, he will need
help.
Web Page Course:
St. Peters College offers a 6-week course to us. Based on
attendance by 20 students the price per student is estimated
to be roughly $400. Each session will be 2 hours, using
computers at the College that are loaded with web page
design software. Richard Dolinsky was involved in
arranging this event.
He has been out of town for an extended period on business.
Brainstorming
Meeting- to be announced
We will invite all ASME members to a brainstorming session.
The object is to involve more members in directly actuating
programs of general and technical interest.
Richard Dolinsky will plan this, after he returns
from a round of business trips.
Morris Museum Tour:
Bud said he would arrange a tour for April. No
specific input from him yet.
Meadowlands Pumping
Station and Paterson Falls Generator Tour:
Lisa Laplante will try to arrange a tour or tours for
May, when water flow will be optimum and the weather will be
pleasant.
Wine Making /Beer
Brewing Tours:
These are good networking events. Lisa will verify
availability and scheduling.
She will notify members by E-mail on short notice. Previous
Beer/Wine events were well attended. Beer bottling and
labeling is done on Thursday nights.
Beer tasting is on Friday nights. Grape deliveries from
Chile will start arriving after April 29th. Members
interested in these events are asked to call Lisa so
she can make arrangements.

Another Program on
Patents:
At the Engineers week dinner, Richard Straussman, the
patent attorney who presented the last program said that he
should be contacted to arrange a follow up program for the
winter of 2006. James Litvany arranged the previous
program on patents with patent attorney R. Straussman.
The event was well attended. Is James willing to do
this again? James, please respond.
Program on Starting
a Business:
Lisa will talk to Iggy D’Agati, Brian Boden,
and Dick Touma about this.
No input from Iggy, Brian, and Dick
yet.
Regional Student
(robotic) Competition (RSC) – Fishing Robots:
An RSC program was held at FDU, Teaneck. April 1, 2006 at
FDU, Teaneck in the gymnasium and in the Muscarelle
building. The challenge was to build an invention that
enables a quadriplegic to cast a fishing line and reel the
line back in.
There were impressive entries.
Rebuilding Together:
Lisa Laplante said a Rebuilding Together event is
planned for April 29, 2006.

event on our website. Interested volunteers, should refer to
the link for information. If all else fails, contact Lisa
laplantel@asme.org.
A June Wedding:
Lisa is getting married on June 10. The wedding will
take place in Connecticut.

Should we plan one? The last place was great but turnout
was poor due to threatening weather which never made good on
its threats.
