Welcome to the Northwest Florida Section of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers!
Originally organized in 1956, the NorthWest Florida section of the American Society
for Mechanical Engineers (NWF-ASME) extends from the western Florida-Alabama
border and encompasses the Florida counties of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa,
and Walton.
For the majority of its life, this section was headquartered in Pensacola, primarily
because Westinghouse and Monsanto were the major engineering companies at the
time. Around the end of the 1990's, these companies closed their doors, which resulted
in many ASME members either leaving the area or losing interest in the programs that the section provided.
After a period of dormancy, several ASME members in the Valparaiso area have taken up the call to restart the section and NWF-ASME was officially revitalized in 2010. We invite you to contact us to become an important part of this professional association. NWF-ASME is dedicated to the development, exchange, and transfer of principles and practices of mechanical engineering concepts to ASME members, Northwest Florida communities, businesses, industries, and education facilities.
Our membership represents areas of manufacturing, government, healthcare, services, education, & other industries. NWF-ASME is looking forward to partnering with other organizations such as the Northwest Florida section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the Northwest Florida section of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the ASME Auxiliary in activities throughout our year, which runs from September through June. As our yearly schedule has yet to be determined by the executive board, we are open for ideas and suggestions. Please contact me with any idea, remember this is your section!
All levels of ASME leadership believe that every member deserves the professional benefits available through regular strong local Section activities. Tours, technical meetings, social programs, and national and international events are all part of the ASME program that we hope to be able to offer to our membership. Come join us at one of our regular meetings, professional development seminars, or social events. The executive committee with the support of the district staff is committed to providing activities to benefit the section membership with opportunities for professional growth, networking and social activities. Come join!
If you have any ideas or would like to volunteer to become a part of your section's executive committee or local leadership team, please contact any of your NWF-ASME section executive officers below.
