The Mechanical Engineering Products Group with ITT Space Systems Division is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer. Selected candidate will support the Precision Structures Team, which designs and builds the World's finest dimensionally stable optical support structures for the World's finest high performance imaging systems. Activities include advanced technology development, system concept development, detailed design, fabrication, assembly and verification testing.

Experience Requirements:
1) BS Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
2) Candidate and immediate family members (Mother, Father, Sisters, and Brothers) must be US citizens.
3) Strong understanding/working knowledge of CAD and FEM.
4) Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5) Potential leadership skills.
6) Strong drive for excellence and team success.
7) MS Office Proficiency.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

1) Experience with composite materials.
2) Experience with Unigraphics and NASTRAN/PATRAN.
3) Experience with structures design and analysis.
4) Experience with mechanical testing.

The Specialty Engineering Group at ITT Space Systems Division is looking for a Material Engineer in Rochester, NY. Responsibilities will include part and material specification, yield enhancement, manufacturing support and specific improvement projects. Typical activities include:

- Specifying space grade materials especially adhesives.
- Knowledge of clean rooms and clean room protocol.
- Knowledge of glass and ceramics.
- Perform engineering, reliability and statistical analysis related to material and process applications.
- Conduct material and process qualification and testing programs.
- Preparation and maintenance of process control procedures.
- Material engineering review and approval of contract and subcontract statements of work, specifications and project plans.
- Preparation and maintenance of source control and other procurement documentation, and guidance for material procurement activities, including assignment of quality requirements for procurements and subcontracts.
- Interface with customer, supplier and subcontractor representatives on material and process selection and application issues.
- Supplier development, survey and qualification.
- Responsible for material and process selection
- Establish, maintain, and communicate an approved parts and materials list.
- Review engineering drawings to ensure qualified parts, materials, and processes are used to avoid incompatible materials.
- Preparation, maintenance, and application of design and workmanship standards for high-reliability hardware.

Position requires US Citizenship and a government clearance

Experience Requirements:
- BS in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics with 5 - 8 years of applicable experience.
- Knowledge of Military/NASA and industry standards
- Current expertise in materials for space applications and their manufacturing processes
- Independence and initiative
- Hands on manufacturing experience
- Results-oriented
- Decision maker
- Excellent analytical and trouble-shooting skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to handle several concurrent projects

Security Clearance:
This position may require the passing of both a background investigation and polygraph to achieve a variety of compartmented national security clearances. The individual holding this position must be a U. S. Citizen.
