Henry Manczyk, former Monroe County Director of Facilities Management and current Director of Facilities Engineering for the Unity Health System, presents a talk entitled "Energy Accounting Audit".
  • Why should building energy use be analyzed?
  • What methods are available for energy evaluation?
  • How can the results of energy conservation efforts be demonstrated?

The presentation will outline methods for evaluating, monitoring, controlling and reducing building energy use by using energy management programs.  The financial aspects of energy management will be described, including the energy costs themselves, costs of consulting, managing and monitoring, capital upgrade costs, and the accounting methods used to analyze the data.  Examples of energy cost comparisons will be shown from previous energy accounting audits.

Henry Manczyk is Director of Facilities Engineering for Unity Health System.  He worked for the City of Rochester and for Monroe County for 31 years, most recently as the Monroe County Director of Facilities Management.  He is the author of numerous articles on HVAC optimization, energy management strategies and building energy auditing, many of which can be found on the District Energy website www.energy.rochester.edu/.  He has received awards from the Association of Energy Engineers, ASHRAE, the National Association of Counties, and Johnson Controls.

Mr. Manczyk’s presentation is part of a series of programs by the Rochester ASME highlighting Energy Sustainability, Alternative Energy and Energy Efficiency.
