Business Meeting
- Discussion
of current and future ASME funding policies for sections.
- Final approval of the Region III
Fund and policies for distributing money to sections in
need of additional support for this fiscal year.
- Since our proposal to the Board of Governors (BOG)
for more section funding was denied, and Dick Hirsch's amendment to the
ASME constitution was rendered ineffective by the BOG, additional
actions must be taken to secure financial support for sections.

Our IRAC will be in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.

The
hotel for the IRAC is currently a Holiday
Inn but they are changing their affiliation to Best Western on February
27th. This will not impact us as long as our attendees make their
reservations directly with the hotel by telephone. You should not use the Internet
or the national 800 numbers for either Holiday Inn or Best
Western. The
hotel has its own direct toll free number ( 1-888-222-8512 ) which
should
be used to make all room reservations. The hotel has its own
website which
is www.lehighvalleyhotel.com.
It is located just off US 22 at PA 512. Directions and a map may
be found
on the site at
on their website or
on this link.
We reserved a block of 15 rooms for Friday
night, October 6th at a group rate of $89.00 per night plus 10%
tax.
When making
room reservation, attendees need to ask for the American Society of
Mechanical Engineers group rate. Reservations need to be made by
September 20th in order to get the group rate. After September
20th
any rooms not
reserved will be dropped from the block. Check in time is 3 PM
and check out time is 12 Noon.
Region III will reimburse the
total
amount of $100.00 for those who are staying overnight to help with
travel and hotel cost. For those who arrive Saturday morning Region III
will pay $0.25 per mile to help with travel cost. Consider carpooling
with
others from your section or sections on your way to the event.
We strongly encourage each section to sent at least one person. Two or
three representatives from each
section will help to create a dynamic and balanced group.
This is a
critical time for the survival of the section structure in ASME. We
need your help to plan for a positive future. That future will enable
us to network with our peers and interact with the next generation of
ME students at our local colleges and universities. We look forward to
see you at the meeting. Drive safely.
Registration is $35 per person (This does not cover all the costs)
