Spring
2006 Region III Regional Administrative Conference (RAC)
Hosts:
Richard Merz
& Ken Kroos
An ad hoc
Region III Executive Committee, consisting of William Coleman, Richard
Merz, Ken Kroos, and Robert Ellson has been formed to address the
problem of zero ASME section funding for the coming fiscal year,
2006-2007. The Region has a bank account with sufficient funds to
support a number of sections for several years. We need your advice and
council to appropriate these funds in the best way to serve the
professional needs of our constituents. Therefore, we urge you to
attend the Spring 2006 Region III Regional Administrative Conference on
May 5-6 in Bethlehem Pennsylvania!

Our RAC will be in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.

The
hotel for the RAC is currently a Holiday
Inn but they are changing their affiliation to Best Western on February
27th. This will not impact us as long as our attendees make their
reservations directly with the hotel by telephone. You should not use the Internet
or the national 800 numbers for either Holiday Inn or Best
Western. The
hotel has its own direct toll free number ( 1-888-222-8512 ) which
should
be used to make all room reservations. The hotel has its own
website which
is www.lehighvalleyhotel.com.
It is located just off US 22 at PA 512. Directions and a map may
be found
on the site at
on their website or
on this link.
I reserved a block of 25 rooms for Friday
night, May 5th at a group rate of $89.00 per night plus 10% tax.
When making
room reservation, attendees need to ask for the American Society of
Mechanical Engineers group rate. Reservations need to be made by
Wednesday, April
5th in order to get the group rate. After April 5th any rooms not
reserved will be dropped from the block. Check in time is 3 PM
and check out time is 12 Noon.
Region III will host up to one (1) person from each section in the
total
amount of $100.00. We know that in the past ASME
International has hosted two people, but ASME International is not
supporting any people for this event. All transportation cost are the
responsibility of each person attending. Consider carpooling with
others from your section or sections on your way to the event.
We strongly encourage each section to sent at least one person. If any
sections are able and willing to help with the cost of sending more
people that would be great. Two or three representatives from each
section will help with create a dynamic and balanced group.
This is a
critical time for the survival of the section structure in ASME. We
need your help to plan for a positive future. That future will enable
us to network with our peers and interact with the next generation of
ME students at our local colleges and universities. We look forward to
see you at the meeting. Drive safely.
Registration is $35 per person (This does not cover all the costs)
