Alton is a contract manufacturer. Their primary customers are among the Fortune 500 companies. We will have a "Shop Tour", which will highlight the manufacturing capability. We will see CNC machining, precision metal stamping and fabrication, welding (spot welding and robotic heli-arc welding, but no laser welding) and tooling. The majority of inspection is conducted using coordinate measuring and optical measuring machines, whichh we will also observe.

In the year 2000, Alton Manufacturing achieved QS-9000 certification, which automatically certified us ISO 9001 and 9002 as well. They maintained this certification for the next 5 years. In 2005 they decided not to renew the certification because their customers standards were changing and they found it difficult to justify the added expense. They have fully embraced the QS-9000 standard as a company philosophy and continue to abide by it  At this time They do not have any plans to ISO 14001 or the new TS-961standard.
