6 Exploiting
the anomalous properties of Wednesday, February 6, 2008 starting at 8:00 pm. Dinner and the presentation will be at the RIT Student / Alumina Union Cafeteria. Dr. Ghoneim will be the speaker, presenting a discussion "Exploiting the anomalous properties of anti-symmetric angle-ply laminates." After a quick review of the fibrous-composites materials, this talk presents some of the anomalous properties of anti-symmetric angle-ply laminates, and some of the potential and actual applications that take advantage of theses properties. ![]() Dr. Hany Ghoneim is a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at RIT. During the summer, he joined many research and development laboratories including IBM, Edward Air Force, Cornell Injection Molding Laboratories, and Lord Incorporation. He supervised dozens of Master Theses, published close to 50 Technical Journal and Proceeding papers, and presented many conference papers in the fields of: thermoviscoplasticity, vibration damping and control, and novel composite structural components. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Vibration and Control. He is a winner of the Eisenhart Outstanding Teaching Award.
