This year Georgena Terry will be presenting a program entitled The Bicycles for Women: Making a Market. Where did the idea of making bicycles for women come from? How was it developed into a "real" business? What were/are the obstacles? What role does engineering play in the business? These questions will be covered in the discussion of the evolution of this business, from the initial "ah ha!" to the current "we've created a monster" state. If you are interested in engineering, entrepreneurship, or bicycles this program will be of interest to you. Georgena Terry is CEO of Terry Precision Bicycles. She has an MBA from The Wharton School and a BS in ME from Carnegie-Mellon University.
Prior "work" experience includes Xerox, PPG Industries, Westinghouse Nuclear Service Division and Merrill Lynch.Terry Precision Bicycles was formally started in late 1985 after evolving in her basement. Originally, there were about eight people building and painting bike frames in East Rochester. Eventually, they ceased production of handmade frames and started importing product from Japan. Their product line has evolved in recent years to include saddles, apparel and accessories. They sell through independent bicycle dealers and wholesalers in the US and abroad and through their own mail order catalog and website, www.terrybicycles.com .
TERRY will bring bikes to ride, saddles,
apparel, and tons of stuff.
