TOUR OF GENENTECH'S
BIOLOGICS MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN OCEANSIDE
Genentech is a leading
biotechnology company that discovers,
develops,
manufactures, and commercializes biotherapeutics for significant unmet
medical
needs. A considerable number of the currently approved
biotechnology
products
originated from or are based on Genentech science. Genentech
manufactures and
commercializes multiple biotechnology products directly in the United States
and licenses several additional products to other companies. The

In June of 2005 Genentech
purchased Biogen Idec's NIMO Oceanside, California biologics
manufacturing facility.
• NIMO is a
multi-product, biopharmaceutical manufacturing complex on 60 acres of
land.
• The complex
contains six buildings: Manufacturing, Lab/Office, Utility,
Warehouse / Dispensing, Maintenance,
and Cogeneration.
• All
buildings are connected by an enclosed corridor called the “spine.”
• Highly
automated batch and process controls performed by a distributed control
system (DCS).
• State of the
art biotech production facility.
