A full tour learned all about fusion and gained a deeper (if even possible) appreciation for  the challenges faced by General Atomics and others in the field.  We express our sincere thanks to Mr. Max Fenstermacher.  See the Album page for pictures.

TOUR OF GENERAL ATOMICS' DIII-D
FUSION EXPERIMENT FACILITY

You think you have design problems?  How about designing a bottle to hold 200,000,000 deg C?  Then wrap it with conductors carrying 1,000,000  Amps.  Come and see how General Atomics solves these design problems on a tour of GA's Doublet IIID Fusion Experiment Facility.  The tour, being hosted by Mr. Max Fenstermacher of GA,  is scheduled for Thursday, September 29, 2005, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The facility's address is 3483 Dunhill St., Building 34, San Diego, 92121.  Visit this page for driving directions.  Park in the lot immediately to the right after passing through the guard gate.  The experimental building is just to the left of the guard gate.  Visit this page to learn more about GA's Fusion Program.

RSVP by emailing Tom Frankie or calling Tom at 858-481-1785.  Space is limited so please contact Tom by Sunday, September 25.  Call Tom earlier if you are not a US citizen as there may be additional security requirements.
