Purpose: To provide the section Chairman, executive committee, and membership with the necessary support to meet the objectives of the ASME International Board on Government Relations. To keep the membership abreast of current local, State and Federal legislative action affecting the Mechanical Engineering community - including corporate and public response to that action.ASME International Board on Governmental Relations: To provide advice to elected and appointed officials on Engineering and technology matters affecting public interest, in accordance with the policies prescribed in ASME Policy P15.1. ASME Policy P15.1 addresses how the Society will interact with the mass media, the general public, government bodies, and other interested audiences. The posture of the advice shall foster a climate of understanding and credibility that sustains a continuing dialog.Note: This objective does not suppress the right of the individual member to express his or her own opinion before the legislators as long as they declare that the opinion is their own and not that of the sectional, district, or international bodies of the ASME. |
