Our second tour for 2009 marked a turn over and great recovery for the SFV section. This success was supported by the fantastic effort of Anheuser-Busch In-Bev and their staff. The section was met by the company representatives Raghu, Roy and Richard in the Budweiser Room. The facilities were enormous and there was an impressive collection of steins from all over the world. The section was represented at full capacity by thirty members for the evening tour.

Section business was conducted prior to the tour. First, SFV section’s appreciation was acknowledged to Anheuser-Busch In-Bev and its staff with a section’s certificate of merit presented to Gail Glaser, accepted by Raghu and Roy.

Since this was our last tour of the operating year, District D and the current President recognized two significant SFV contributors in the success of the section’s recovery this year. Lois Holtzclaw (current Treasurer) was recognized for maintaining the section’s finances for the past six years as well as synergy generated maintaining history and the pulse of the section. Vincent C. Meraz-Mata was recognized as the most significant younger member of the year, providing the section with forward vision for the section’s future.

The tour was divided into two phases that explained the complete brewing and bottling process for the brew. Each phase sufficiently covered the 1,700,000 million square feet in nearly 3 hours of in depth details of what is required to be a world class brewer and beverage distributor. Comments at the tours end affirmed the exceptional detail and thoroughness of details presented by the tour guides.

The ASME thanks Anheuser-Busch In-Bev and its staff for the hospitality that they extended toward the San Fernando Valley Section. This final tour has put the section back on the map as a viable and vibrant unit for the future of the San Fernando Valley.
