WOW!

Last week the Skokie Valley unit received a check from ASME in the amount of $795.  That is the amount donated by members of ASME Skokie Valley to the support of the unit.  Given that the option to donate was unannounced and not highlighted in any way the level of support by our members was nothing short of OUTSTANDING.

When you received your dues statement last year in included a new line for support of your local unit or primary division.  This was an unannounced and unprecedented opportunity for ASME members.  Yet enough members noticed the item and felt strongly enough about contributing the their local unit  - over and above their ASME dues – that they filled in and paid a voluntary amount of their own choosing.

Again, my thanks to each of you, on behalf of the other members of Skokie Valley, who made a donation to support the programs and activities of YOUR unit.  Please be assured that your donations will be put to good use for the benefit of engineers in our area.

I also thank those of you who supported your primary division without supporting Skokie Valley.  Like our local unit, the divisions deserve the support of those who claim an active interest.

The Merit Funding (formerly allocation) from ASME is not affected by your contributions.  In fact, your contributions will go to strengthen the ability of Skokie Valley, with our parent Chicago Section, to score high on the merit scorecard – thus assuring maximum funding for the next fiscal year.
