Natural Gas
How we use it, who has it, and what may be changing in the future
Tanya Tickel
of the Gas Technology Institute
February 18th, 2009
at
The Wellington
Arlington Heights, IL
After this talk attendees should feel comfortable
discussing current and possible future natural gas consumption
scenarios. Current North American supply data and consumption
patterns will set the backdrop for the discussion, and will comprise
about half of the talk. The growing LNG trade will be discussed in
the context of world consumption, and what it means for U.S. supply.
Finally, Tanya will highlight selected areas of
research in energy efficiency, alternative supply, and alternative
uses of natural gas.
Tanya Tickel is an engineer at the Gas Technology Institute, a
not-for-profit that serves the technology needs of the natural gas
industry. She joined GTI immediately after receiving her doctorate
from Northwestern University in combustion modeling, and has worked
on projects involving power and gas rate structures, gas quality,
new energy-efficient burner designs for the steel industry, and coal
and biomass gasification. She is dedicated to public education and
honest dialogue about challenges facing the energy industry, and is
pursuing a business degree part-time at the University of Chicago.
