The purpose of the Industry Advisory Council is to promote the professional development of engineers that operate in the various industries in Trinidad and Tobago The idea for the group came out of discussions with the ASME Team and various companies during the visit from December 6-8, 2004 . The council contains members who are senior decision makers in their own companies and their mandate will be to advise ASMETT of the needs of industry as it applies to engineering training and professional development.

ASMETT through ASME will develop programmes, courses and if necessary, lobby the government and other professional engineering organisations to satisfy the needs of local industry.
