The ASME student section at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago was launched on December 7, 2004. It is the first student-run campus organisation focused on mechanical engineering in the English-speaking Caribbean. Established in 1960, the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies is committed to the development of Caribbean countries. It seeks to contribute to that development by producing graduates and research of high quality, relevance and usefulness, while striving to be an intellectual bridge to the wider Caribbean region and the rest of the world.
