~ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Class~
The Oregon Section is hosting a
professional development class in"ASME Boiler & Pressure
Vessel Code", to be held Thursday, April 19, 2007, from 7:30
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The location will be at the Oregon Institute of
Technology, 7726 SE Harmony Road, Clackamas, Oregon. A certificate
for
7.5 professional development hours will be awarded upon completion.
Lunch and snack breaks will be included.
The class will concentrate on rules for
the design of pressure vessels and boilers. The presenter will be
Maan Jawad, Ph.D. Dr. Jawad has extensive industry experience in
this field and has also taught at several colleges.
Cost will be $125 for ASME members, with
other rates for other classes of attendees. For more information

~Upcoming OSBEELS Board Vacancy~
The Oregon and Willamette Valley
Sections of ASME are working together to identify qualified PEs
in mechanical engineering who are interested in serving on the Oregon
State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying (OSBEELS).
Currently, there are no mechanical or electrical engineers serving
on the board, a matter of great concern considering the multi-disciplinary
nature of the issues that are faced by this authority. In April
2007, the Oregon governor’s office is expected to begin the appointment
process to fill OSBEELS vacancies. The ASME section boards would
like to submit letters of support for one or more candidates.
